The California Star is the Official Publication of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. Previously published quarterly by Grand Parlor for fifty-one years, it is now electronically brought to Native Daughter Members monthly by the Electronic Communications Committee. It contains information about Parlor activities, Committee events and individual member contributions all over the State.
Deadline for Articles: To ensure timely inclusion, all articles must be submitted two months prior to the intended publishing month.

HISTORY OF THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATIONS
- Predecessor: Prior to 1956, the NDGW shared The Grizzly Bear magazine with their brother organization, the Native Sons of the Golden West (NSGW), beginning in May 1907.
- Launch: The California Herald launched in September 1956 with the motto “The Magazine that Preserves the Past for the Future”.
- Run: Edited and published heavily by Leo J. Friis, the publication ran until the August/September 1971 issue.
