Arbor Day – April 24th

National Arbor Day in the United States is on Friday, April 24, 2026. It is a designated day to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees, typically observed on the last Friday in April. Many communities and states will host tree plantings, seedling giveaways, and environmental education events during this time.

Ways to Celebrate with your Sisters:

  • Plant a tree: Select a native tree species suitable for your local area.
  • Participate in local events: Check with local parks, agricultural extensions, or forestry commissions for tree giveaways.
  • Education: Share information about the benefits of trees, such as clean air and energy conservation
  • Learn about the Redwoods at Big Basin Redwoods State Park: Explore the breathtaking beauty of Big Basin, located in the Santa Cruz mountains, California’s oldest State Park. While travel may not be feasible, you can still conduct a watch party to share the majesty of the ancient redwoods. We have found a selection of videos and articles that showcase the park’s natural wonders, see the links below…
  1. Discover California’s oldest State Park by watching a video and learning more. (Click here to visit the website).
  2. Watch a video about the marbled murrelet, an endangered bird nesting in Big Basin Redwoods State Park.
  3. Read an article about three women activists who played a crucial role in preserving Big Basin Redwood.

Southern California Redwood Grove: Yes, you can hike to a redwood grove located in Carbon Canyon Regional Park, 4442 Carbon Canyon Rd. in the city of Brea. Enjoy a virtual hike & find out more Here.

Please share this information with your Parlor Sisters during an upcoming meeting as well as through the Parlor newsletter, Facebook page, and email communications.
