the name chosen when the Parlor was organized was Columbia. acting upon a communication from the Grand Secretary, informing the Parlor that there was already one Columbia Parlor, the name was changed to Golden Era, as it was felt that the name Golden Era best exemplified the town and its history at this period of time. To continue the theme of the gold rush, members chose a miner with his pan, pick and shovel as symbols representing the golden era for their Parlor seal.
