Grass Valley (Nevada County)

As Grass Valley has gold beneath the surface and manzanita above, the manzanita makes it appear as if snow is on the ground, especially at night, which ties in with the county name, Nevada, which means “snow covered.”

The seal contains a manzanita tree surrounded by the letters PDFA.
